The Randall Family

I was so blessed to have received this wonderful 1908 photo of my great grandparents this year, 2012.   Great Grandfather, William Sankey Randall (born May 11, 1862) married Great Grandma Eva May Crocker (born Oct.24, 1864).  They had 11 children:  George Ray, Eleanor Ellen Jane, Oliver Cromwell , Lillian Emma, Margaret Pearl ( my Grandma), Marie Mary Maude, Elizabeth Reed, John Pierce, Charles William, Dora May, and Wilma Eva.  In this photo (back row) are:  Marie, Pearl (my grandma), Charles Morrow & his wife, Eleanor Randall, and Lillian.  Second Row (seated):  Oliver, Great Grandfather William Randall holding baby Dora, Great Grandmother Eva, George, holding his daughter, Margaret, & wife Jennie.  Seated bottom row, Elizabeth (who died from pnemonia when she was 15 years old.)
Journaling reads:  In the back row, second from the left, is my lovely grandmother, Pearl. She was 15 years old in this photo. My grandfather, Chester McCance, was once engaged to Marie, Grandma’s sister, who is standing next to Grandma. When Marie got sick with T.B., and ultimately died at 22 years old, my grandfather started dating Grandma, fell in love, and he asked for her hand in marriage.

Page kit used for this heritage page is Lauren Bavin's lovely Creme Caramel . Also used Marcee Duggar's gorgeous Vintage Collector 4 Element Set (postcard) and her incredible Heritage Charmer Deluxe Word Art 1.

Family - Cora Hazel Barbour-Oakes

This is my Grandma Oakes showing off her long hair.  This photo was taken in the early 1900's near New Castle, PA.  Robyn Gough's beautiful Cinnamon Sunday Value Collection was just perfect for this heritage page and it complimented the fabulous free spirit Grandma had.

My Family

My Family Tree using the Genealogy Mega kit, which can be found at Digital Scrapbook Place.  I love the backgrounds and elements in this huge mega kit.  You will be using it over and over.

Cora Hazel Barbour Oakes

This lovely lady is my grandmother; my father's mother.  Even though I always knew of her when I was growing up, I never got to meet her.  Still, I feel her in my heart.  One day, we will know each other and will spend forever together.   I used Lauren Bavin's wonderful heritage Value Collection, Stories of the Past. The scattered diamonds are from Nicole Young's Vintage Show Total Drama (recolored).  The loopy tension stitching is from Meryl Bartho's Stitched With Love - Slightly Untidy.  The little pink flowers are from Carol Ann Gary's Happiness is Contagious, which, unfortunately is no longer in the Digital Scrapbook Place Store.

Goliad Reenactment

An annual event the last weekend in March. If you haven't had an opportunity to see the reenacting of the Battle of Goliad, Texas and Goliad Massacre, you should do so. It is one-of-a-kind, was well worth the drive, and there was such an abundance of Spring flowers, too. These are just a few of the photos we took on 3/27/10. Journaling reads: After learning of the fall of the Alamo, General Sam Houston ordered Col. James Fannin and his men to abandon La Bahia and fall back to Victoria. They began the retreat on March 19, 1836. Mexican General José de Urrea and his men attacked Col. Fannin and the Texians on the banks of Coleto Creek. Although the Texians initially repulsed the attacks, they soon ran out of water and Fannin surrendered. The Texians were escorted back to La Bahia, arriving by March 22, 1836. Although Urrea requested that Santa Anna treat the prisoners with clemency, on March 27, 1836, the men were marched from the fort and slaughtered by Mexican soldiers, in an event known as the Goliad Massacre.

Crested Caracara

Bill captured this magnificent Crested Caracara in Conn Brown Harbor in Aransas Pass, TX. It's pretty amazing this bird is only in three states: Arizona, Texas, and (very endangered in ) Florida, and only in the southern part of these states. The "Mexican Eagle" is the national bird of Mexico, and is of the Falcon family. Kit used to create this page is Abbey Fields Value Collection by Lauren Bavin.
